At Oglethorpe University, we strive to create a living and learning community for students that supports the academic mission of the institution. We recognize that a significant part of the collegiate experience occurs outside of the classroom. As such, Residence Life offers a variety of programs and services aimed at promoting academic success and fostering personal development. Our residential community will be is our students’ home away from home as they pursue their academic and personal interests.

Residence Life Professional Staff

The Office of Residence Life is led by the Assistant Dean of Students, Assistant Director, and Residence Life Coordinators. These professional staff members provide the vision, supervision, and management of the residence halls and are available to assist students with any of their concerns.

Assistant Dean of Students

The Assistant Dean of Students is responsible for the full administration, operation, planning, and strategic management of programs and services for Residence Life, and Student Conduct on Oglethorpe’s campus. To this end, the Assistant Dean of Students directly supervises professional staff, coordinates professional and student staff training, manages the departmental budgets, and serves as the chief conduct officer for the university.

Assistant Director of Residence Life

The Assistant Director of Residence Life is responsible for all day-to-day operations of Residence Life that include housing placement, exemptions, dorm maintenance and upkeep, as well as supervising RLCs and Resident Assistants, The Assistant Director is the main point of contact for all residential needs.

Residence Life Coordinators (RLCs) are student affairs professionals who work and live on campus. They are trained and experienced in residence hall operations, supervise the RAs and provide guidance in RA programming. RLCs live in a campus apartment and oversee the activities of their assigned area of campus. They are the Office of Residence Life’s spokesperson in any situation that may arise in the residence halls and enforce university and residence hall policies. Feel free to speak with your RLC about problems, ideas and suggestions.
